KfW IPEX-Bank and the Swedish-based international shipping company Stena have signed a loan agreement of USD 180 million to finance two new E-Flexer RoPax ferries. The ships, which are designed to carry flexible “rolling” (Ro) cargo such as trucks and trailers, as well as passengers (Pax), are among nine new vessels ordered by Stena from China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Weihai).

The vessels were ordered in 2018 and the delivery is expected in 2022. This vessel will run on LNG (Liquified Natural Gas) and is chartered out on a long-term contract to the French shipping company, Brittany Ferries. Delivery is estimated to take place in Q1 2023. Nine E-Flexer vessels have been ordered and two have been delivered: Stena Estrid, delivered in November 2019 and Stena Edda, in January 2020.
